Lesson 4 - LDM Basics

This lesson covers the basics of the LDM partitioning scheme, namely, what is LDM, how it is organized: PRIVHEAD and LDM database. Additionally, the main objects LDM operates with – disk, partition, component, and volume – are discussed. Two different schemes of the on-disk LDM layout - for the MBR and GPT disks – are considered in detail. Also, the key points of LDM recovery from the recommended approach to the important structures of LDM metadata are provided.

In practice part, your task is to find as many PRIVHEADs and VBLK blocks as possible working with disk image files. Additionally, you should offer an optimal searching strategy.
